Russia destroys 10m books — Ukrainian publishers plea for international aid
Ukraine's Book Institute has urged the global publishing community to support Ukrainian publishers after Russian attacks in July and early August destroyed roughly 10 million books. A 1 August strike on warehouses of RNK-Ranok publishing group in Kharkiv wiped out about 8 million books, following July attacks in Kyiv that cost over 1.5 million more. In total, the attacks destroyed around 30% of Ukraine's annual book production, leaving some companies at risk of financial collapse.
