"Ransom Busters" pose as ransomware recovery agents — then steal more from victims

Cybersecurity firm GuidePoint Security uncovered a group called "Ransom Busters" that contacted ransomware victims offering decryption keys and file deletion from attackers' servers for $20,000–$60,000. A red flag was that they reached out before the original attackers had gone public with the victim's name. Researchers believe "Ransom Busters" are likely the same affiliates who carried out the initial attack, not genuine recovery specialists.
