Sydney air traffic controllers warn of crash risk after airspace redesign

Experienced air traffic controllers at Sydney airport have raised "grave concerns" with Australian safety regulators about airspace rule changes linked to the new Western Sydney International airport. In a confidential complaint to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB), a controller warned in June that the changes were rushed, with inadequate training for staff of all experience levels. The federal government was notified Thursday; controllers drew comparisons to the months before a Washington DC crash that killed 67 people.
