Governments brace for historic El Niño impacts on global weather extremes

Governments worldwide are preparing for the impacts of what is expected to be a historically strong El Niño weather event. Sri Lanka has earmarked $14 million to combat severe drought and plans to ration water at 75 litres per family every two to three days. Authorities warn the phenomenon could trigger extreme weather globally.
