People-search site ClarityCheck exposed 9 million face photos and users' personal data

People-search site ClarityCheck, which promises "private and secure" reverse image searches, left over 9 million image files — about 450 GB — publicly accessible in an unsecured Amazon S3 bucket, including photos of adults, teenagers and children. A separate misconfiguration also exposed users' email addresses and phone numbers. The breach was discovered by independent security researcher Jeremiah Fowler.
