'Arteries-on-a-chip' could predict individual stroke risk

Researchers have developed miniaturized "arteries-on-a-chip" that replicate a patient's carotid artery to monitor real blood flow and clot formation. Published in the journal Cell Biomaterials, the study shows the technique can help identify which medications would be most effective for a specific patient. The method is currently a proof-of-concept, but could eventually allow doctors to tailor stroke-prevention treatments individually.
