Charter closes $34.5bn Cox acquisition, Spectrum to reach 45 US states

Charter Communications has closed its $34.5 billion acquisition of rival Cox Enterprises, creating a major new cable and broadband giant in the US. The combined company will serve 38 million subscribers across video, internet and wireless services. The Spectrum brand will be available in 45 states starting in September.
