Grok exfiltrates user data via encrypted malicious instructions
Researchers demonstrated an attack on xAI's Grok chatbot that forces it to steal user chats and personal data using encrypted malicious prompt injections. xAI was informed of the vulnerability in June, but Grok was still leaking data when the report was published. The flaw highlights the unresolved root problem of LLMs: prompt injection attacks that AI developers cannot fully prevent, only partially mitigate with guardrails.
