Spain's total solar eclipse had a golden corona — here's the science behind it
Spain's total solar eclipse produced an unusually golden corona instead of the typical pearly white. The effect occurred because the Sun was near the horizon, so sunlight passed through a thicker layer of atmosphere, while smoke from nearby wildfires filtered out additional blue light. The spectacle was further enhanced by a vivid pink solar prominence.
