Over 1,000 birds found dead in Australia amid 'significant' H5 bird flu escalation
South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas declared a "significant escalation" in H5 bird flu after three mass mortality events killed more than 1,000 greater crested terns. The deaths are presumed to be caused by the H5 strain. Authorities said there have been no detections in poultry, livestock or mammals so far.
