Mission to save NASA's Swift observatory cancelled — it will burn up on re-entry

NASA and company Katalyst announced the cancellation of a rescue mission intended to save the ageing Swift space observatory. The spacecraft sent to transport the satellite experienced technical problems, making the mission impossible. As a result, the Swift observatory will burn up in Earth's atmosphere.
