MIT physicists find electrons in quantum material rebuild like growing ice crystals
MIT physicists have discovered that two electronic phases within the same quantum material emerge through strikingly different mechanisms — one smoothly and one in expanding pockets that resemble growing ice crystals. The finding could shed light on how exotic properties such as superconductivity and magnetism develop and coexist inside the same material.
