China lands reusable rocket booster — major military implications follow

Chinese firm LandSpace successfully recovered a reusable rocket booster on land for the first time in China, using the ZhuQue-3 (ZQ-3) Y2 vehicle on August 19. This follows a sea-based recovery by state-owned CASC the previous month. Reusable boosters dramatically cut costs and increase launch frequency, offering major benefits for China's rapidly expanding military space programme and narrowing the commercial launch cost gap with the US.
