Nearly 90% of top websites fail HTML standards — a growing problem in the AI age

The ValidateHTML project, led by French developer Théo Ducreux, analysed 5,000 of the most popular domains from the Tranco list. It found that nearly 90% of those sites fail to meet W3C and HTML5 standards, and only 53% have human-readable home pages. The findings raise concerns about code quality at a time when AI systems increasingly rely on web content.
