US banking regulator OCC promises final stablecoin rules by November

The head of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has promised to deliver final rules implementing the GENIUS stablecoin bill by November, ahead of the law's January 2027 effective date. The OCC released a 376-page proposal in February and invited public comment. The rules will set the regulatory framework for stablecoins in the United States.
