Moderna and Merck's personalised mRNA cancer vaccine succeeds in Phase 3 melanoma trial

Moderna and Merck announced their personalised mRNA cancer vaccine, intismeran (mRNA-4157), proved effective in a Phase 3 trial of 1,137 melanoma patients with surgically removed stage IIB–IV tumours. Patients received either the tailored vaccine combined with Merck's monoclonal antibody Keytruda, or Keytruda alone. The result marks the first Phase 3 success for both personalised mRNA cancer vaccines and individualised cancer-targeting medicines.
