Bitcoin surges past $68,000, wiping out $1.4 billion in short positions

Bitcoin rose roughly 6% to break above $68,000, triggering the liquidation of $1.4 billion in short positions. Ether, Solana and crypto stocks also climbed. The rally was fuelled by increased risk appetite after the U.S. Treasury doubled the size of its bond buybacks.
