Skull bone marrow lymphoid structures found to guard the brain against disease
Functional lymphoid structures within the skull bone marrow enable immunological surveillance of the central nervous system and shape immune responses to brain disease, a new study in Nature finds. The discovery reveals a previously unknown defence mechanism protecting the CNS. Researchers say the finding could have implications for treating neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's.
