JWST reveals ancient galaxies are even more massive than previously thought

The James Webb Space Telescope had already surprised scientists with the unexpectedly large mass of ancient galaxies in the early Universe. New research now shows that vast numbers of low-mass stars are hidden within these galaxies, making them even more massive than previously estimated. The finding deepens the challenge these galaxies pose to current models of how quickly galaxies can form.
