Researchers hacked Microsoft Copilot by repeatedly asking it about itself — and it leaked sensitive data

Security firm Varonis discovered a vulnerability in Microsoft Copilot dubbed CoSnitch (CVE-2026-24301, severity 8.8/10), a chain of three flaws enabling sensitive data exfiltration. The exploit used malicious URLs and persistent memory poisoning to bypass the AI's guardrails. Microsoft has since patched the vulnerability server-side.
