Ukraine prepares law allowing seizure of private land for military fortifications
Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada has passed in a first reading a bill that would allow private agricultural land to be temporarily used for military fortifications and installations without the owners' consent. Landowners would receive payment and, in certain cases, compensation for lost crops. The legislation is intended to strengthen the country's defensive capacity during the ongoing conflict.
