Scientists engineer probiotic bacteria to fight pancreatic cancer from the inside

Researchers have engineered probiotic bacteria to infiltrate pancreatic tumours, activate cancer-fighting immune cells and slow tumour growth in animal studies. The treatment proved even more effective when combined with chemotherapy, radiation or immunotherapy. Pancreatic cancer is notoriously hard to treat, and the findings point toward a potentially new class of therapies.
