Hill 593 at Monte Cassino: where Poles succeeded where others failed

Hill 593, nicknamed the "Sacrificial Mountain" due to the enormous casualties it claimed, was a pivotal strongpoint in the Battle of Monte Cassino. American and British forces repeatedly failed to take it before Polish soldiers finally captured and held the position.
