Meta on trial: 29 US states accuse it of deliberately hooking children on Instagram and Facebook

A US federal trial opened in Oakland, California, with a coalition of 29 states accusing Meta of knowingly designing Instagram and Facebook to be addictive to children in order to boost profits. Prosecutors are seeking penalties of around $200 billion. Meta has rejected all charges. Legal experts are calling the case social media's "big tobacco moment."
