Poles criticise 100-million-zloty Virgin Mary statue near Toruń

Only 25 percent of respondents in a Res Futura survey consider the construction of a 55-metre statue of Our Lady of Mercy in Konotopio near Toruń a "beautiful and deserved gesture of gratitude". Most critics call it a waste of money and idolatry. The monument, which cost 100 million zlotys, has also attracted widespread mockery over its appearance.
