SpaceX Starship debris drifts off Australia's Christmas Island after test flight
During SpaceX's 13th Starship test flight, launched from Texas on 24 July, the upper stage re-entered the atmosphere after releasing 20 non-functioning satellites and splashed down in the Indian Ocean. The spacecraft is now floating off Christmas Island, a remote Australian territory. SpaceX engineers are en route to retrieve it, and local residents hope the worldwide attention will boost tourism to the island.
