Poland's Justice Ministry proposes replacing lay judges with "social judges"
Poland's Ministry of Justice has sent to public consultation a draft amendment to the law on the structure of common courts, proposing that lay assessors (ławnicy) be transformed into so-called "social judges". The project also envisages higher remuneration for those serving in this role and changes to the selection procedure. The reform aims to improve public participation in the justice system.
