NASA backs ion-drive drone project to explore caves on Titan

NASA has decided to back the SPARK project, which envisions ion-propelled drones capable of exploring underground caves on Titan, Saturn's largest moon. Reaching and operating on such a distant body poses major technological challenges. Scientists hope Titan's caves could yield insights into conditions in the outer Solar System.
