Europe's oceans overheating — some areas 6°C above normal this week

Scientists from the World Weather Attribution consortium announced Wednesday that the Atlantic and Mediterranean are running far above normal temperatures, with some areas reaching 6°C above average this week. Climate change is identified as the key driver of this year's marine heat waves. The consequences include harm to marine ecosystems, jellyfish population booms and a higher risk of destructive storms later in the season.
