Trump administration cuts healthcare research agency staff by 75%, experts warn of collapse
The Trump administration has cut staff at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) by 75%, cancelled its grants en masse and is refusing to spend tens of millions of dollars appropriated by Congress. The AHRQ has worked on patient safety, care quality and healthcare technology since the 1990s. Health policy experts Aaron Carroll and David Atkins wrote in the Annals of Internal Medicine that whether the agency will survive is now an open question, with RFK Jr. blamed for the cuts.
