Researchers found that X's recommendation algorithm may convert users' argumentative replies into a feedback loop, serving them progressively more content that conflicts with their values. The effect was found to be stronger among users who identify as Democrats. The findings suggest the platform's algorithm amplifies polarisation rather than moderating it.
