2,000-year-old ritual burial found at the bottom of a Scottish well

Archaeologists in the Scottish Highlands uncovered a roughly 2,000-year-old burial at the base of a stone-lined well discovered during quarry expansion. The well, about 10 feet long and 3 feet deep, was sealed with stone slabs and clay. Iron Age artifacts and animal bones placed atop the burial suggest it may have been part of a closing ritual when the well was abandoned. The find was reported by Highland Archaeology Services.
