Bill Rasmussen, the entrepreneur who founded ESPN, has died after a battle with Parkinson's disease at the age of 93. A former local sports news director, Rasmussen conceived the idea for a round-the-clock sports television channel in 1978, capitalising on the nascent satellite TV industry. ESPN grew to become one of the world's dominant sports broadcasters.
