GM lays off 350 workers at Michigan plant originally planned as an EV hub

General Motors announced it will lay off 350 workers at its Lansing Grand River Assembly and Stamping plants in Michigan, which had been earmarked for conversion into an EV hub. GM had pledged $1.25 billion to transform the facilities, and the Department of Energy had awarded a $500 million grant for the overhaul. Laid-off employees will continue to receive 74% of their hourly wage.
