Trump claims Strait of Hormuz as US territory; Iran refuses to open it
Donald Trump published a map depicting the Strait of Hormuz as "new US territory," claiming the United States has full control over the strategic waterway. At the same time, Iran's chief negotiator Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf stated that Iran will not reopen the strait until the US fulfils the terms of a temporary agreement reached in June. The standoff raises tensions over one of the world's most critical shipping lanes.
