Trump threatens to strike Oman and claims Strait of Hormuz for the US

President Trump threatened on Monday to strike Oman, a longstanding US ally that has been mediating talks between Washington and Tehran over control of the Strait of Hormuz. Trump also suggested claiming the strait as US territory, even though it is currently controlled by Iran. The threat has alarmed diplomats given Oman's long-standing role as a back-channel intermediary between the two countries.
