Russian chief economist fired after saying publicly that Russia cannot win the war
Andrei Klepach, one of Russia's most prominent economists, publicly stated that the Russian economy is weakening and that Russia cannot win a war of attrition. On 16 August he lost his position at the state development bank. His dismissal signals the end of tolerance for internal dissent among Russian technocrats.
