Russia threatens Japan with "adequate measures" over protest at Putin's Iturup visit
Japanese Ambassador Akira Muto was summoned to Russia's Foreign Ministry after Tokyo protested Vladimir Putin's visit to the disputed island of Iturup. Moscow deemed Japan's position inadmissible and warned of possible "adequate measures." The diplomat spent around 25 minutes at the ministry and left without comment.
