Couple charged over Poznań fire that killed two firefighters in August 2024
Polish prosecutors have charged a married couple who ran a battery repair shop in a Poznań tenement building. In the night of 24–25 August 2024, a fire broke out in the business's basement due to improper operations, triggering an explosion that caused the building to collapse. Two firefighters were killed and several residents were seriously injured. The couple face charges of involuntary manslaughter by causing a major fire.
