Lake Constance hits record low water level for August
Lake Constance, shared by Germany, Switzerland and Austria, is recording a dramatically low water level — a gauge in Konstanz showed just 275 cm, a level normally seen only in late winter, not August. The Baden-Württemberg Environment Institute has raised the alarm, describing the situation as an anomaly linked to the climate crisis. Areas of the lakebed not seen for 50 years have become visible.
