Cherry pits as a cheaper alternative to wood pellets — but not for everyone

A tonne of wood pellets now costs around 2,000 zloty even in summer, prompting renewed interest in cherry pits, which cost roughly half as much. Cherry pits have a significant drawback, however: they can only be used in boilers specifically adapted to burn them, ruling out most standard heating devices. Interest in alternative biofuels is growing as pellet prices remain high.
