Victoria to broaden definition of corruption before state election
Victorian Premier Ben Carroll has committed to introducing legislation broadening the definition of "corruption" before the state enters caretaker mode in November. The change would expand the jurisdiction of the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC) to capture conduct not currently covered. A former IBAC head welcomed the move, saying the expanded definition could have applied to the conduct of senior government figures had it been in place earlier.
