Williams sisters lose Cincinnati doubles return — first non-grand-slam doubles since 2016

Serena and Venus Williams lost their first doubles match together since the 2022 US Open, falling 2-6, 6-1, 10-8 to Marta Kostyuk and Peyton Stearns at the Cincinnati Open. The sisters nearly erased a 6-0 deficit in the match tiebreaker before a double-fault by Venus ended the contest. It was also their first doubles appearance together outside a grand slam since the 2016 Italian Open in Rome.
