Expelled from Warsaw after the Uprising's capitulation — civilians' ordeal
After the capitulation of the Warsaw Uprising, German forces expelled civilians from the city's ruins and herded them into a transit camp in Pruszków. The displaced had no idea where they would be sent next — forced labour or concentration camps were real possibilities. Despite hunger and fear, most longed only for one thing: to return to Warsaw.
