Extreme heat more dangerous for over-60s than previously thought, study finds
A study published in The Lancet Public Health found that people aged 60 and over face harmful heat stress at just 1.5°C of warming above pre-industrial levels — lower than previously thought. Older adults are set to bear the brunt of increasingly frequent extreme heat spells as global temperatures rise. Earlier research had underestimated the scale of the heat risk for this age group.
