Trump ordered cutback of US-South Korea drills — they went ahead anyway

President Trump announced Sunday that he had ordered the Pentagon to substantially scale back joint military exercises with South Korea, calling them costly and saying they send a "totally inappropriate and hostile" signal to North Korea. Despite the order, the drills went ahead as planned on Monday. Trump cited respect for North Korean leader Kim Jong-un as the reason for the decision.
