Microsoft to remove WMIC tool from Windows 11 starting August 2026

Starting with the August 2026 update for Windows 11, Microsoft will completely remove the WMIC (Windows Management Instrumentation Command-line) tool. The company has been gradually phasing it out for years due to its repeated abuse by cybercriminals in malware and ransomware attacks. WMIC will, however, remain available in older versions of Windows.
