Cosmic 'river' of gas 1 trillion miles long tilted planets in Orion constellation

Astronomers have discovered that a river of cosmic gas over 1 trillion miles (1.6 trillion km) long tipped over the planet-forming disk of the triple-star system GW Orionis, located about 1,300 light-years away in the Orion constellation. The finding was made using the ALMA radio telescope array in Chile. It could explain why planets with orbits dramatically misaligned with their stars' rotational axes are so commonly observed.
