DRC's deadliest Ebola outbreak spreading fast – no vaccine for this strain

Health authorities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo are losing their battle to contain the country's deadliest Ebola outbreak, declared in Ituri province on May 15, though genomic sequencing shows it began in February. The virus has since spread to five more provinces and is on track to surpass the 2014–16 West Africa outbreak as the largest in history. The strain has no approved vaccine, and response efforts are hampered by armed conflict and misinformation.
