James Webb's mysterious "little red dots" may be hidden galaxies seen core-only
Astronomers studying a spiral galaxy nicknamed "Saguaro" found that its compact, bright red core closely resembles the mysterious "little red dots" detected by the James Webb Space Telescope in the early universe. When they simulated how Saguaro would appear from much greater distances, its spiral arms disappeared, leaving only the bright red centre. The findings suggest that the little red dots may be full galaxies whose outer structures are simply too faint for Webb to detect at such distances.
